Deutschlandlauf
Sylt → Zugspitze
Right across Germany – from Sylt all the way up the Zugspitze.
The Deutschlandlauf is one of the most traditional stage races: from the North Sea island of Sylt, around 20 stages take you to the top of Germany's highest mountain. It takes endurance, experience and fighting spirit.
Ingo Schulze, its first organiser, turned it into a serious stage race with the editions of 1998, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Many great runners have joined the list of finishers since – Angelika Huemer-Toff won the overall ranking in 2021, only the second woman ever to do so, and Andreas Amann is so far the only one to have finished the Deutschlandlauf five times.
In 2026 we went back to the roots, largely on the original route of 2017. A new edition has no date yet – and it will be different from the previous ones. If you want to be the first to know, just get in touch.
